im looking to get a chiller for my tank, my tank is 75G with a 30G sump

im looking at a 1/10 arctic chiller. is this chiller good enough for my tank?

also how do i plumb this? my return pump is a mag 7 with ball valve.
i have the valve open 3/4 of the way. can i just make the mag 7 go into the chiller and have the chiller return back to my tank? because the rquired flow rate of this chiller is between 240 gph and 960 gph.a mag 7 is 700 gph

Whether a 1/10 HP will work or not depends on what temperature your tank normally runs at and how far you want to bring it down. The general rule I have read is get the next bigger size than recommended. It will run less and work more efficiently.
Your plumbing plan is the way to go, you probably wont need the ball valve anymore but I would leave it there just for the convenience of being able to stop the flow if you ever have to work on the lines.

in the summer my tank temp gets up to about 85, anyother time the temp gets up to 81, i want to chiller to keep the tank around 79-80

For that small a drop a 1/10 will probably do the job.
It will just run more during the hotter months.
If you were shooting for 75 degrees you would probably need a 1/4 HP.

ya i agree with him, it will probably do the job. But just an FYI.

I have a 90 gall plus sump and i got a 1/5 arctica. My temp was at like 83-84, pre chiller. Now it peaks at 81ish. I should have gone with a 1/4hp instead.

IMO i think the 1/10 will barely be able to do the job u want it to do. I would honestly get the 1/5. It would be on a lot less than the 1/10 would be on.
