Chillers

What are you guys planning to use to keep your tanks cool during summer?

I'm thinking of getting the Teco TR-10 now since they are on sale direct from the company, with free shipping to boot.

I used to have 3x250 watt MH's and actinics on during the summer over my 180 and maxt temp would be 82, now, I'm only running 1 x 250 watt MH and the actinics. Soo, the tank should stay around 78-80F during the summer this year. :) Total water volume with DT/sump/fuge is 300 gallons BTW.

I am placing an order for the Teco TR10. I have heard great things about this chiller, and the build quality is great. My tank is 92 gallons before the sand and rock is taken into consideration. Without the chiller my tank runs between 72-74. I am wanting to run the tank at 68, so the TR10 should be fine and will not have to run much to keep the temp at 68.

Re: Chillers

Thanks for the feedback Michael, I am gonna place the order this weekend. My total volume will be about 100 gallons (2 tanks common sump). Unfortunately the a/c in this house is too weak to reliably keep my tanks cool, esp during those Midwest heat waves.

I have a Pacific Coasts 1/3 hp chiller - picked it up here on RC for a great deal... otherwise I would've grabbed a TECO, and still might!

I love my teco, its my 5th chiller over the years and by far my favorite. I have the TR15 on around 150 gallons of water. I always have at a least 150W MH running, most of the time a 250. Its WAY quieter than the 3/4 power aqua logic it replaced!!!
