I'm looking to buy some LEDs. For my 220 gallon. I'm not looking to buy the radions or etc. I basically want anemones, softies, and maybe down the line get sps and lps. I heard some chinese blackboxes are good,What lights would people recommend?Definitely want one that's dimmable.

I own 4 of these now. they def. grow my corals well, but I tend to spend a lot of time dimming and playing with the lights. I am looking to go AI hydra 26's or Radion xr15's so I can plug and leave and enjoy the weather syncs and what not.
Just wondering, how much are the black boxes going for now?

Can't go wrong with reef breeders leds.

I have a reef breeders photon 32 that is fully programmable for sale. PM me for more info.

Thank you,I think I should run 4 of the 165w blackbox LEDs as well,a bit expensive to get Radion XR15's,I don't know how much the black boxes are, just heard it is cheap on group buy.

I have run two of these for two years now and my coral have grown well. I add two retrofit T5s about six months ago and they have helped growth.

With a long tank take a look
at these. It is the same light just longer.

Here is a thread where I post some photos of my tank. I don't have before/after but you can see how my coral are growing just fine with the fixtures.

Thank you,if I run the 300w MarsAqua, how many that would be perfect?

You would want two of them for full coverage (assuming that is a 6ft tank).

Thank you,no brace shadowing if run two of them?how does the programming work? Do u have to set all of the 10 intervals manually? Also what percentage is the intensity adjustable by?

I now use one lamp named AURORA-120w, it implant time also dimmable,
it is bright , the most important is with timer, and not expensive. i ever search for Radion, almost 6 times of price.
Not sure you guys use what.

Bro,how much are the AURORA? how does the timer work?

I own an ocean revive LED. Definitely the best bang for teh buck IMO. For around 150 each you got 120W of bridgelux LEDs. For an additonal 20 or so you got a timer with digital dimmer. And also comes with bracket mount if you are willing to spend 199. My only complaint is they use cool white LED and I have some algae issue if I increase the white a lot.

I have found the timer lights on Amazon,$158 each shipped,I will reach for the Ocean Revive LED and think about it. Cool white is 14000k,yes? use 6500k whites that would be better for algae growth, yes?

Thank you very much.

I just tell you my tank
my tank 4feet length, 2.5feet depth, 2 feet width, not sure your tank is similar with mine. total around 200gallon.
i use two Aurora with timer and dimmable, cool white , voilet, blue , red, green( i do not know why they put green there, moon light( i like this design so much , it is cool , you know , at night time)
i have some photos but i do not know how to post it.
i purchased from amazon, if you need, here is the linakge;

http://www.amazon.com/WYZM-TM-Dimma...&qid=1436152053&sr=8-1&keywords=0701979391297

But i know this is from one company named " xxxxsun" some sort of .

not sure this can help you both .

The Amazon light is similar to AURORA Timer-165w,built in timer with remote, but I'm not sure that is real on the Amazon,I heard the AURORA Timer-165w can do a 3 stage ramp, for example:moonlights on for an hour, then blues, then white the third hour, set time for each of 3 channels by remote,it has manual dials for intensity, one manual dimmer is for white channel intensity(2 red 2 green 2 violet and 18 14k white) ,another is for blue channel intensity(28 royal blue),no manual dimmer for moonlights channel intensity, but it said "28:27 LED Bulbs Ration for Two Separate Channels; Also moonligh built in Light Intensity Adjustable from 0% to 100%" on Amazon, also no said it is AURORA,I am very confused.my friend has a AURORA Timer-165w,not same that like the seller said on the amazon

Hi friend, would this light work on a 220 gallon or will it not cover entirely?

220 gallon = 72″L x 24″W x 30″H, right?

Based on my experience with 180, 2 x 32 reef breeders photons would definitely support softies LPS and SPS. To cover entire tank you can use hanging kits to elevate fixtures above DT.

Good luck,

Mike
