chinese led lights

Thats a good point..

If Evergrow could add a port jack on the side of each light that would allow one controller to run multiple lights via PWM that would be neat. It might
be able to allow an external source to control the light via PWM as long
as they stick to the standards.

I actually requested an Apex compatible model awhile back. They went with a full controller in the light instead, which is cool and beneficial, but kind of a waste for people who already have dimming controllers (which probably isn't too many). It would allow auto dimming at d120 prices. Unfortunately though, ethernet jack driven blue/white dimming ports would end up only allowing 2 lights to be controlled by a controller, unless they developed a linking solution to that too.

They would have to switch to different drivers to do it. The drivers they use are neither PWM, nor 0-10v analog.

Don't get me started... I really want these light to be controlled by my apex. having a controller is good and all, but I like to see everything happens about my tank at 1 place and also I can control them in the remote location like when I'm travelling.

If you're handy, I made a tutorial in this thread on how to replace the drivers with Apex compatible ones. It isn't too hard, but it isn't a quick easy swap either.

Reefbreeders will also do it, which would be easiest. Either way, it would add $65-100 to the cost, so it is better off just getting the controller model.

I've seen a few people use one over a 40 breeder. It works fine if you hang it.

how high would I have to hang them? I was wanting to build a canopy to house the lights. Also would I need to use larger optics such as 120 to get more light to the edges of the tank?

Due to continued failure to comply with our warnings this thread is done. We're tired of deleting posts to keep this open.
