chinese led lights

Shimmer lines are apparently shorter and "Wilder" with LED because of the multiple light sources. Natural sunlight gives the longest calmest lines, and halides while closer than led to natural sunlight are still shorter and wilder than sunlight.

I do have a question though. I'm planning an 80g, 48x24x16. I wonder if I would need four lights because of the double width, or if I could hang the lights higher to get more spread without affecting par too much due to the shallowness of the tank. Any thoughts?

Yeah the taotronics is 55 LEDs at 2w each which is 110. Like want2reef measured out.

The aquariumleds is 40 LEDs at 3w each, which is 120

If the aquariumleds are running at 350mA, and 3.5 volts, how do they get 3 watts? 350mA seems kinda low, but I'm definetly not an led/electronic expert.

The taotronics specs state they run at 630mA and consume 131 watts total. Which would equal 2.38w per led at 3.78v. :hmm3:

I purchased the 120watt light from aquariumleds to compare to my apollos. There is no comparison. The unit is way dimmer than the apollo leds. I guess at less than half the price of an apollo its not too bad.

In your pics the all on seems really blue to me to be 14k, is it just the camera, or do you feel that the pics are consistent with the eye?

I would love to see some videos of the aquarium LED models...

It is very difficult to take pics of LED lights without them turning out very blue. They dont look as blue in person as most pics that you will see.

On another note, I dropped one of my units in my tank, so if anyone was wondering if they are waterproof the answer is no.

I have it all taken apart and think it may be salvageable, I emailed aquariumeleds to see if the can sell me a new driver since i think that is what got fried. Will let everyone know how that goes.

Also, no heat sinks inside the unit.

I dont think anyone intended for that kind of test, good to know...

A side by side pic of both units over a tank to show the difference would be awesome. Or if you only have one fixture over your tank a before and after.

These new dimmable black boxes seem appealing. How about I add another to the mix.
Found this on alibaba:

http://houyi.en.alibaba.com/product...&edm_cta=read_msg&edm_time=realtime&edm_ver=e

She said fixture price as follows:
64x3W Cree=458+112shipping
or something comparable to eshine
40x3W Cree=388+82 shipping

Fixtures include hanging kit and legs, and of course that sleek built in controller.

I have this Light fixtures. They works perfect and looks perfect. I order 24" and 36". http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OsSgTlBFs1w&feature=channel

Anyone heard anything about these? I like the looks of them.

My 250 watt mh are currently 8 inch off the water line. Would I be able to run LEDs at the same height and get decent coverage on a 75 gallon tank?

All you guys posting about your 1 watt LEDs need to recheck what this thread is about. The guy who started this thread was referring to the eshine fixture with 3 watt cree. Those china made fixture with 1 watt LEDs are not very good lights for sps and there is se horrible reviews from them. If your looking for a cheap alternative to expensive LEDs you need to get the eshine ones, at least they use Cree LEDs which have been proven to grow nice corals.

ummm sure they are. Any chinese LED black box is about this thread, and the debate on whether or not to try/buy them. Least that is what I have been reading and posting about over the last few pages. did I miss something?

No this thread is about eshine led system that's use Cree led. Those 1 watt less system don't work man. If your going china make sure your system has Cree les at least.

Light fixtures I posted Is 3W cree its not 1w. China and not China everything is China today. Cree led is now made in China.

Get the Mexican LED lights!!!!

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Yes Cree does have a plant in China however all of its High effeciency chips are still made in the Durham North Carolina Plant. The Chinese plants are assembling the PAR light bulbs. and several other of their lighting fixtures.

dojic60, nice looking setup you got there. I'm really liking the looks of those fixtures too.

Could you give us some more details about the fixture as well? Like how long you have had it, and more importantly how that controller is working out for you to simulate the sunset/sunrise effect?

I'm ordering my lights this week for my 57 so it's getting crunch time.

Yes, and then the thread evolved.

Although technically the thread was started about Chinese LED fixture in general, with a direct question about those specific fixtures.

The thread stopped being about the OP halfway through page one. Hell, it stopped being about 1 watt LEDs for the most part around the same point.

What about the KEY LED K3 fixtures? If an eshines light is running roughly 280$ + shipping, and is only 60 watts, what about a key fixture which a 36inch one will run around $630 shipped to the usa with what appears to be 148 watts with the sps power bar...

It appears to be somewhat programmable too

yeah , i think the thread is about whatever the thread is about on page 21 as opposed to page one! and now its not so much about whether or not they are crappy, but which one to buy!

A $630 fixture at 148 Watts comes out to $4.25 per watt. or $12.77 per 3 Watt LED. if you have any do it yourself skills at all you could reduce that cost by about 1/3. But more importantly you could customize the lighting to your personal taste.

However there is the issue of time inoilved for the build and how much do you value your time. A build like this would take me about 8 hours so I would look at as working a job that payed $26.50 an hour.
