chinese led lights

From what I have read the above lights have lower par numbers (Taotronics specifically) and are not dimmable. 51 pages on this thread and other reviews have suggested this. To me spending a few dollars more for dimmable lighting that is brighter seems well worth it, that is should one need the extra light intensity. But I do appreciate you suggesting another system Travis

I'm deciding between the $165 lights and the Nova A4/A6 lights. I really like the design of the NOVAs, and they are also dimmable as well (Sam confirmed). I can change LEDs easily on the Nova too. I'm just wondering if its worth the extra cost over the $165 one.

Please post the link you are referencing with the NOVAs.

I understand I just like these cause I have yet to find one person give a bad review plus there in states so fixing and shipping is faster is there is any issues...

There are many in this thread using them that have nothing but good to say... There 120 watts just as the taos or aliexpress units.... and as for the par readings? Who knows how legit any of them are or if they were done right .... There all the same black boxes too me some with dimmers some without... I mainly care about customer service for when. Or if something goes wrong and from what I've read they have that better so far...

I really do like the taos I've seen them in person but just not fond of an ebay seller being there when I need them fixed

NOVA A4 is $230 shipped. 48 leds 120w
NOVA A6 is $293 shipped. 72 leds 180w

The design is updated over the $165 one, and seems to be worth the extra cost. The fans (10-15c cooler design), modular capability, and replaceable leds being the main updates. Dimmable too, which none of the ebay ones are yet.

Just buy from a seller that has been around for more than 2 years with over 1000+ feedback. They won't be going anywhere. Discuss the warranty with them and how they'll handle before buying.

More info on this type of model:

Feature:
1. Newest cooling system, revolutionary heat dissipation design, greatly alleviate the internal thermal cycle, 10-15 Celsius lower than its precursor in performance.
2. Brand new technology in fans will be more long-lived, decreasing 50% noise than its precursor.
3. Built with 60℃ Second optical lenses, the illumination is 15 times than the universal version in the market.
4. Using high quality EPI 3W LED light. (I think you can choose Bridgelux too)
5. Can 100% reach or even exceed rated powers.
6. Modular assembling is much more convenient for maintaining and repairing, can replace LED or power individually. No glue and glass.
7. Intelligent monitor system, ensure the whole equipment in a good working state and automatically alarming for breakdown.
8. Using advanced isolated power driver, UL standard output voltage which is lower than 45V DC. Soft starting protection to avoid the transient currents impact, effectively protecting the LEDs from high voltage damage.
9. 85 to 264V AC power input, 50/60HZ working frequency, suitable for global residential energy environment.
10. Aluminum drawbench face shield design, compared with traditional glass shield, better heat dissipation; shockproof and fall resistance.

No paypal, no reviews, this seems like a great leap of faith to venture down this path bhazard. How would one even go about buying this and ensuring receipt, I only ask because I have never dealt with overseas vendors in this fashion. Thanks for the post however

Sam Chen from Evergrow has posted in this thread quite a few times, and there are a few people here who ordered from him. Paypal is accepted.

The reason there are no reviews, is because the unit is very new. I'm in the process of buying the NOVA A4 now, with Bridgelux leds and 90 degrees for my 34g nano... just getting a link made. I will literally be one of the first ones getting it, if not the first.

This model can be repaired easier by me as well, such as if there are dead leds or parts after shipping. I'd rather have easier fixes I could do myself instead of having to send the unit back to China like the $165 model.

I really love the NOVA A6 and they look like these

I see 60, 90, and 120 optical lenses available? What is preferred for a tank < 24 inches deep (46 gallon bowfront, 55 gallon, 75 gallon)? I have read you can customize them, how so? There is not customize tool that allows one to do this.

Also, where can you pay with paypal, I am not seeing it should I decide to go this route?

Email Sam Chen directly and request the parts you want. They need to create a link on Alibaba to order paypal wise. They are in the process of doing that.

sales02@ledgrowlights.cn

I went with 90 because my tank is less than 24" wide. I would go 120 for anything else. I went with Bridgelux leds over Epistar too.

Where does it show or can you find what optic lens is best for a given tank?

What is the advantage of Bridgelux over Epistar?

Someone on here said optic lens works best for tanks 24" deep or deeper. No optic lens for 24" deep and less deep. Optic lens for more water penitration.

Does anyone know of a 48" chinese LED fixture instead of these smaller units that everyone is posting with comparable features (led colors, watts, modes, etc)? I have a rimless and was looking to get one large light instead of 2 smaller units side by side.

The only unit that might be big enough is the NOVA A8 or the bigger NOVA T15 converted to an aquarium light. 96 leds in the A8 compared to 48 in the A4. You would have to email for a price on it. It looks like the A8 could go for $310-320 shipped. That would save money over 2 A4's actually.

Just ordered my NOVA A4. I'll be the first from the US that ordered one, so I'll get plenty of pics up when I get it. My tank is still cycling so it may be awhile till I have coral growth impressions.
