Bhazard where do you live?
What color combination are you thinking for DIY?
Corey
Here is a list of DIY combos I have found:
Ok now I need some help deciding what combo to get...:headwally:
2 d120s, in a canopy, no optics, with 4 violets per fixture.
I like the added color pop of 2 red/green/cyan, but it isn't needed. Multiple colors of white (like cool white, warm white, neutral white) are a much better option.
Has any of you experienced brown algae on the sand with chinese led lights?
bhazzard.. im puling the trigger on one unit.. the a6. to see how it works out.. what to do you think about this config.
24 white.. cool?
3 green
3 red
3 violet or do uv?
36 royal blue
optics 90 degree.
you mentioned spotting.. think i can do the red greens in 120 optics.. or would that be expecting to much from sam to do two different optics?
thanks
I need some advise on what kind and how many LED fixtures I need for my tank. My tank is 72"l x 30"w x 22"h. Many SPS with some LPS. Currently using a Photon with 4 x 250w MH and 12 x 36" T5.
I am looking at the Nova A6 and the 55 x 3w square fixtures (http://www.alibaba.com/product-gs/582052939/DIY_2012_Dimmable_LED_Aquarium_Light.html).
Which of these fixtures would you recommend and how many do you think I will need?
3 of either would work. The Novas would be more powerful, the d120s would be cheaper. You can also link the 3 Novas together so that they only use 2 wall plugs instead of 6, which is a nice touch.
Thanks bhazard451. From what I have read on this thread, the d120's lack optics which require them to be placed close to the water surface, but I like the addition of violet, red and green. I was thinking of 4 of them arranged width-wise across the tank. I see that someone is looking at get optics for these units and would be interested in that.
The Nova 6's look nice, but I don't see a mix of violet, green and red. Can one get these added and what configuration would you suggest? Ideally I'd like each pod of LED's to have a consistent mix of colors that I could dim to achieve an overall color I was happy with. Three Nova 6's arranged length-wise look similar in price to 4 d120's arranged width-wise.
Also, I'd like to be able to ram up the lighting. Right now I turn on my actinic T5's, then duo and fuji T5's and finally my MH's all controlled by my Aquacontroller 3.
Your input is much appreciated. I am very happy with my coral growth and am approaching the switch to LED's with a lot of trepidation. I don't want to damage my SPS and undo years of pain-staking efforts.
thats a thought.. i can ask sam to leave off on the red and greens.. and on the violets?
