Chiton refuses to hold onto rock

I ordered a pair of Chitons from KP Aquatics (Along with a sponge, as per the advice from someone on here!). They're pretty cool little dudes. Like pillbug slugs lol. I got two just in case one died in transit, at least I'd have another one. Luckily, both survived, although I don't know how big these guys get so I might have to rehome one.

Anyway, after acclamation, I held them both against the live rock until they gripped on. The smaller of the pair held right on, flattened himself down, and just chilled there. Occasionally he moves to another part of the rock but truth be told I've never actually watched him move haha.

The second one, however, is just not about life. He just lays on his back in the sand, half curled up almost like a lazy teenager who wants you to think they care lol. He curls up when you touch him so I'm sure he's alive. I just can't figure out why he can't get a grip on the rockwork?? Or why he refuses to.

I had the same trouble with a nassarius snail a few months back. She was really sluggish compared to the other 3 I bought and seemed sorta sickly. I kept finding her covered in sticky sand, upside down in various places, usually being harassed by a peppermint shrimp. Now, she's fine.

I wouldn't be so worried if it wasn't for the fact that the biggest pep seems really interested in the unlucky chiton and I don't want the chiton to be any more stressed out than I think he already is.

Any ideas? I just can't figure why the one, shipped from the same place, is having so much difficulty.

I attached a couple photos. The very blue one is the chiton that's doing ok. Then there's one of the underbelly of the problem chiton, a picture of him finally beginning to uncurl on top of the rock, aaaannnndd.... then he fell again. And that's where he is now. upside down. in the sandbed.

I'd set it's fleshy side against the glass of the tank and set a small rock to hold it in place. Then come back every so often and see if it attached.

Ok update, now that he's held in place and protected a bit by the rock, he uncurled a bit but still isn't grabbing the glass. And somehow he got himself slightly on his back again, so his fleshy side isn't even touching the glass anymore. What is this chiton's thing with being on his back?

Forgot to update this: the chiton died. It stopped responding to me touching it and a couple days later it started to turn brown on the bottom. The second one seems fine though. He's fun to watch :)
