Chloroquine phosphate tx for jawfish

I have a blue spotted jawfish coming in on Wednesday and a Midas blenny. Is there any contraindication for using chloroquine phosphate with jawfish? Has it been tried before? I know that some wrasses are sensitive to cp. but I haven't heard about jawfish but I want to be extra sure since for me it is an expensive fish.

Well, this is one I would like to know too, though I think they should be OK.

What do you want to treat?

I bought a male and female at a local store two weeks ago. The female is doing fine, but the way the male died wasn't pretty and I don't want to see something like that again. I still don't know what it was, though my guess would be something bacterial.

The treatment I gave the pair when I got them first was a formalin bath against velvet, brook, uronema and the like.
After that they went straight into TTM since I had noticed spots on the male that looked a lot like ich.
In the TTM tank they both settled under the same rock and were eating fine.

But before the first transfer the male got sick (there is a significant difference between infected and sick) and its skin looked like it was peeling off.
I did the transfer early and switched to full hyposalinity. I also dosed BiFuran as this was the only antibiotic I could measure for the small volume of the TTM tank.

The male was likely already too far gone, but it seems to have worked for the female. She is still in hyposalinity and scratching sometimes, but her fins are clear and she is active and eating well.

By now I have a scale that can measure down to 1 mg so the next time I will likely rather go with Cipro than BiFuran.

I've ordered a replacement male from Blue Zoo (they say they can sex them), but it likely won't be here until next weekend.
I hope they are better sexing these guys than sexing the blue stripe pipefish of which I constantly get males when ordering females - and those little suckers are really easy to sex :debi:

I found an article on wet web media from bob fenner and he actually recommended cp specifically over other treatments. So I am going to go ahead and use it, I will let you know how it goes!

CP will work some of the time for ich, all of the time for velvet.
