Chloroquine phosphate

Hello, 5 weeks ago i bought a Achilles tang. He lives in a 200x70x70cm tank.
He is eating well and doing great with all the other fishes except for 1 thing.
He has ich and i have a hard time in getting it away.
I am feeding the fishes like 3to5 times a day. One of those times i put some metronidazole and focus and guarlic guard and fish vitamines with the food.
I am happy that everyone is still eating, but now after 5 weeks i want them to get ich free.
I run 1 11w uv filter in the sump and 1 36w uv straight from the bodem of the tank itself.
As i dont have the feeling of it getting any better and i want to do something to help them, i tought about treathing them with chloroquine phosphate.
I have alot of corals in the tank, so the regulat dose isnt an option for me. Is it possible to give it to the fishes in the food together with focus like how i do it with the metroplex?
Does somebody have another tip for me what to do?
Thx

The only way to rid your tank of ich is to take out all the fish and do a TTM treatment, then house them in a QT while letting your DT go fallow for 72+ days. And you CANNOT add anything wet to it in the mean time. Meaning no corals, no snails etc.

I know that that is the way to be 100%sure that its gone, but i heared and i saw with my picasso tang that it can go away (noticable) from the fishes over time.
And if it isnt noticable but theoraticly still in the tank, than its fine for me. Some ich is also in the sea, but in balans. If i can achieve that, than i am more than happy.
Is there some sort of way to help them with this process? What about ozon or maybe chloroquine phosphate in the food or is there also a chance that it gets under controle when i go on like i do now and the time passes and they get stronger with good feeding and rest?

its weird how 80% of the people who experience ich its always a tang thats suffering from it...from everything I've read your just banging your head into a wall unless you put fish through TTM and let main tank go fallow for 72+ days.
You may get lucky going a different route but the tank will never be ich free and you will most likely run into this problem again.

Fallow periods often fail for Ich because the fallow period of 72 days was just one study that was done. Ich has remained in reef tanks for over 90 days before no problem, so 72 isn't sufficient. You could mix the chloroquine in with the fish food but you will need to make sure ALL the fish are eating the food and for several months. Everyone acts like TTM is the easiest thing in the world, I bet more fish are lost to TTM than any other QT method

Yes, i heared so many stories that there is a big chance that it can het wrong in a quarantaine system.
Thats why i didnt took that step in the first place.
Ive read about chloroquine phosphate, so thats why i tought that maybe i can give it to their food in slow amounts so the corals doesnt suffer, but the fish will get rid of the ich.
Is there is a small chance i can give them, then ill try it.
I also tried polyplab medic and metroplex. No results yet, but still eating.

Never lost a fish to TTM. But I have lost a complete tank to ich. Fallow period + TTM = healthy tank for me. And I believe for a lot of others.

And that's why you are in the situation you are in right now. If you don't want to do TTM, entirely your choice.

You could have done an observational QT but ich may not present itself if the fish wasn't stressed. So you would never had know the fish had ich in the 1st place till you added it to the DT.

If only there was a way to rid the fish of any ich that was present even if you couldn't see it. (read sarcasm).

At this point, if you don't want to do TTM+fallow then your only other choice is CP. but I'm not sure it's reef safe and if not all your fish would eat it then you are back to square one.

Can a tank survive with ich? Sure. It can be managed but any stress could trigger an outbreak and cause you to loose fish, potentially the whole tank. Ask me how I know.

Treu! Tought that is i can manage it with a Picasso tang, that i can also do it with a Achilles. Stupid [emoji17]
I know chloroquine isnt reefsave, but i dont know in what amounts.
So if i can feed them with a low amount, maybe it will be effective. Does anybody know something about this?
