I just had a turbo snail die. I wanted to keep the shell but the snail had pulled his littel door like shell closed and I could noy get it open with out breaking the shell. So I left him in the tank till I could find somthing to get him out. Well today I see my chocolate chip star covering the snail when I moved the star I noticed he pulled the dead snail out and was eating it. Well that made my job easer. Has any one heard of this happening, and if so do i need to worry about him eating my other snails. Just so people know I have had my tank going about 6 month the snails and starfish have lived together for about 4 never brothering each other.

Chocolate chip stars are predatory and will eat snails, clams, scallops, sponges and many other slow moving or sessile animals. This makes them easy to spot feed (which I strongly recommend) but otherwise this is normal and expected....snails alive or dead.

I think like stated above that they eat sessile inverts, this includes coral, so you better make sure he gets fed well before it turns on you.
