chocolate chip starfish maybe reef safe?

I inherited a chocolate chip starfish. I know their not reef safe but I put him in with the corals anyways because he was sick. He's been moving around now which is better. All of my corals are way up on the rock and I've only seen the star grazing along the sand which is where I want him to be. Is it possible that he may not be interested in the coral as a food source or eventually he will make a climb on the rock and then bye bye corals?

So far he's just stayed on the sand which is fine cuz all of my corals are high up.

it's eating all the life from the sand and when he's done killing the sand, it'll move up to the rocks.
