Chocolate Chip Stars and Corals?

I don't think there are any they won't eat. I think they'll eat anything from anemones, to inverts to corals.

he is in a tank with nothing but live rock. I guess it will be a fish only tank. Guess there is no reason to have my growth lights on that tank anymore.....lol

haha yeah.
They're pretty much savages for anything they can get their hands on. And I think even anemones...if my memory is correct.

I have a large choc chip star and he eats fish about one a month. I have found that he is not picky either from clowns to tangs. He has a butterfly under him right now.... :( I would flush him but her is worth to much now.

Hmmmm, that gets me thinking - do they eat mushrooms too? i have some rock i bought that's in QT and loaded with shrooms...

My star is around 6" + and has ate 5 of my fish so far. Not sure how he gets them but he is very good at it. Like I said he does it at a rate of 1 a month and it takes about 3 to 4 days on top of them to digest.
It took me awhile to figure out what was going on with my fish until one night I was up late and checked on the tank after a power flicker and bam caught him on top of 3.5" Naso that was healthy and swimming around 2 hours before.
And yes I am finding a new home for him. Do not let anyone tell you they are safe with your fish this thing is a true predator. I might be able to get a pic of him eating.

The only GOOD reason to buy a Chocolate Chip Star-

Take it to an LFS or give him to someone with a Harlequin shrimp.

Sorry to sound aweful, but if it ate several of my fish, i would find a home in 2 days or it would be going in the garbage!

Anything a chocolate star can get on top of it will eat. It did clean off some of my rock that had a lot of pesky green mushrooms on it. A Hareliquin shrimp will make short work of him though.
