Choosing a sump return pump

Never had a sump and need help choosing a return pump. Tank will be a 90gall RR with the durso standpipe and sump prob somehere around th 20-30gal glass tank size. Want the sump return section, an equipment section, and an area for some live rock and maybe algae down the road.

What size pump should I look for? To much flow I feel like would be bad for a refugium but too little is obviously not good either since the heater and filtration will all be down in the sump.

Looking at the hydor models thats is rated 740gph

This is something I do not mind upgrading at a later date sicne having a spare return pump is probably a pretty good idea!! Can always use a spare for water changes to make life easier as well!

I was using Mag Drive pumps for returns but they are just so loud. I ended up going with the Laguna pump and the Fluval Sea pump. Both are super quiet and have been working great so far. I suggest getting a larger pump than you initially think you need. You will loose a decent amount of gph based off of head height. If you get a more powerful pump and put a ball valve on the output, it'll allow you to fine tune the flow.

I would check out DC pumps. Waveline, octopus, reef life support systems and Jebao are all the same exact pump. 100% the same just different color housings. You can get a Jebao for a great price. They are quiet, energy efficient and you can throttle them down so they use less power instead of valving them back.
