Christmas Party

Reefing On My Mind
Team RC
With the holidays approaching its probably best we start discussing this sooner rather than later... This year's Christmas Party will be December 13th at Chris (fishdoc) and Amy's house as it was last year... He will be making the peel and eat shrimp again too!!! :D

Time is TBA... I hope most of you guys can make it... And hopefully I won't be sick like I was last year... :(

I am not sure what I will bring, but it might be cheese dip...might be cookies...might be some other thing like mashed potatoes or whatever.

What are you guys going to bring?

I'll give you one guess as to what I'm bringing... ;)

Are we going to do the ornament exchange again this year???

Yeah, but you should bring something besides just that!!! That doesn't count as a food item...as much as it is appreciated.

Yes, on the ornament exchange, as far as I'm concerned.

Everyone needs to remember the rule we made last year, that if you aren't present at the party you are NOT able to send the special ornament along with someone else!

If I end up with that thing, I swear I'm taking a hammer to it.

I think sending the "special ornament" along should be REQUIRED... As a member of the BOD I'm voting to make it so, and shall propose it at the next BOD meeting... ;)

Beer does too count as a food item... It has enough calories...

Did I ever tell you that I e mailed the Strongbow representative to see if there were any local places that sold??? It took a few months to get back to me, and when he did, he basically summed it up that I needed to take myself on a road trip to Nashville... lol ;)

No, you never told me that.

When Nathan and I get married, we're going to make my mom bring down two kegs of it. They are the small kegs so it's not as much beer as it sounds.

I'm also thinking of asking her to bring some with her on Thanksgiving (we're all meeting at my uncle's house in Cookeville). Lemme know if you want me to ask her to get you some too.

I'll see if she can fit it into her car. She's got four people plus three side dishes, all fitting into her mini-cooper.

I hope she'll be able to bring some cider at least.

I agree. I sent it along with Don last year when I couldn't make it. My boys complained -- they liked it. The wife was happy to see it go, though.

I'll be there! (might be a few minutes late...)

Ornament exchange sounds great, along with bylaws surrounding exchange of the special ornament (and perhaps a clause to protect it from Mel).

Stephanie and I will go.
We'll bring food. Something spicy. Sorry to everybody for the Arroz con Leche from last time...Stephanie told me AFTER I got home that it was supposed to be served to warm... doh!
No interest in exchanging ornaments though (non-Christians = no Christmas tree).

I'll be there also. I'll bring some sort of "Horse's Derve", if I can figure out just what part of the horse the derves come from!!

I thought it was fine cold... Shows you how much I know about eating Arroz con Leche... :D

FWIW Melly is a non christian that has a Christmas tree... The holiday has become so commercial that for some Christ is not associated with the holiday... You can still be festive... :)

I had no idea about the arroz con leche either. haha.

About Christmas trees: Yeah, yeah, we know. The fact that it's so commercial is reason enough to object - we can be festive and enjoy the holidays apart from buying more trinkets. :)

Well...enough about me and Christmas ornaments.

If you don't want to exchange ornaments, then don't. It's not a big deal either way. Some other members of the club do not participate (for reasons that are about the polar opposite of McLovin's, but that is neither here nor there). Doesn't matter to me what your reason is, if you don't want to exchange, then don't exchange. No biggie.

Again...what food items are you guys bringing?

Last year we had cheese dip, shrimp, beer, and cookies. hah hah. We all had a great time.

I may bring cookies again, depending on how many people are going and whether I can keep Nathan from eating them all before we get there. If there aren't going to be all that many people there, then I'll bring something else and maybe cookies as well.
