Chromis missing scales?

I got a couple of extra chromis to put in my 8 foot mixed reef. It already had one chromis. When I put the new ones in I saw one had a few what looks like scales missing on one side. I assumed it was just a battle wound and would heal up. This was 6 months ago and if anything it is worse. It also looks like my original chromis has been affected so I am now thinking this may be a disease rather than an injury. Its appears like scales are missing and has a rough lesion like appearance.

Does anyone know what this is, and is it contagious to other species of fish?

Hey, I have a bunch of Chromis in a Soft Coral tank and a few of them have the same idea. Looks like they are missing some scales. Has been that way for a while now.

I have never noticed a change in personality, feeding habits or aggression. I don't really know what it is but t doesn't seem to affect them at all. Have tried researching it but can't find anything.

What other fish are with your Chromis? Mine are with a Yellow Tang, a Diamond Watchman Goby and 2 Cleaner Shrimp.

Let me know if you find anything.

Sounds like a nice tank. Yeah I would say atleast with mine it is just a bit of aggression from each other. Have never seen the tang or goby be aggressive towards them.

I have never seen anything attack the chromis. Even if there was n attack shouldn't the wounds heal back up? My tangs sometimes slash each other up and the wounds heal back up quickly and you wouldn't know anything happened.

Yeah I would think they would heal up but I don't know. What ever it is hasn't spread or gotten any worse so not really sure what there is to do.

They basically kill each other off till there's just one left.
They do this during the night sometimes. The only way I've heard of keeping more than one alive is by small frequent feedings throughout the day via a fish feeder.

Really? I have never seen them fight. Also its not like some scales go missing, then they heal, and some more go missing. Its the same scales missing the whole time.

Yeah same thing. I've never seen any aggression either really. No one is missing any tail fins or anything. Just the same scales every day for a few months.

I do feed twice a day though with a fish feeder so that I never forget to feed them.
