Chronicles of my anemones

sugartooth

Reef bully
Hello,
I have been planning and in-process of my anemone upgrade for over 6 months now and I'm getting very anxious. I know that is dangerous to become anxious and excited and start rushing, but it's driving me nuts! So, instead, I took a bunch of pictures and would like to share them.

Here are my anemones----macro, aiptasia, and clowns!

First, the giganteas. I got one recently that was a bit bleached and was sold as a true yellow. I took a chance knowing it's probably green, and well....it looks like it's turning lime. Kind of a bummer, but I'm not complaining as long as it lives.

Now, 3 months later. Here's a series of shots showing the clown playing:

I've been super chicken about pulling the trigger to obtain livestock to rid aiptasia or kalk them while the anemones are with them. I just don't want anything to happen to them over some glass anemones. Since they will always lose toe-to-toe and not hurt my nems, I'm okay with it.

Same thing goes for the macro. I've been trying to find different types to seed that are easier to prune and have some color to them, but it's quite tedious to trim them manually. I don't regret it, just a pain.

Now, my Haddonis. Again, I'm very anxious to get them their own satellite tanks.

The trio, 3 amigos. The purple has not closed it's mouth in 3 months and I'm very worried about it. My fingers are crossed that it will stay with me. It eats and the clowns stay very well hidden in there. They barely come out to eat.

Again, I'm chicken to deal with aiptasia. So, I let them be.

Thanks for looking.

Thanks wicked! I'm hopeful that the transfer will go alright and that these guys will be with me for a long time. I also hope I didn't jinx myself by posting pictures.

Stunning anemones! those clowns look like they're in heaven! Honestly, I don't even see the macro and aptasia with those beautiful specimens in there.

Good luck with the moves.

MarinaP: Thank you very much, that's very nice of you to say. Really, I expected a little bit of bashing for the macro, etc. It's nice to hear this encouragement.

Dalston: Again, thank you as well. It's also very nice to hear. Sometimes I forget the aiptasia are there too.....but not for long. :)

OrionN: I hope you haven't given up on obtaining them just yet, I think you can provide a nice home for one or two. I hope the trip to get the blue went well. No, they do not share a sump. They are in separate cube tanks right now. The upgrade will be the Haddoni's in 2 satellite tanks plumbed into the main reef (250 gal). The giganteas will go into a 3 foot cube tank (Marineland 150 gal. deep dimension series) all to themselves.

I'm very nervous, especially when it will come time to the remove them.

VERY NICE!All I can say is,is,is......nothing...I cant discribe the feeling...its,its...like nothing Iv ever seen befor!

peronally i like the macros but if you want to keep the aptasia in check you might get a nudibranch and let him go at em... and sea hare may help you with some of your macro algea... i cant wait to see pics of the new setups

Clowns, cuby2K, Smooth and Creamy--thank you very much!

Fooseball: Thank you for your suggestion and comment. There may be a very good chance the nudis or seahare will not survive in those tanks. I think if I were to use them, they would be sucked into powerheads or eaten by the nems. I wouldn't feel very good about it. Since they are weak compared to the gigantea or haddoni, I just leave them alone.

jonnybravo: Thanks! The blue ones and green Haddoni I got from my LFS, they were personally picked by the owner for me, also online at Oceanic Coral. A couple were from Diver's Den. Also, ebay. I think the best bet is to wait for Diver's Den.

adtravels: It means a lot to me that you approve. I looked up to you as well as some other veterans of anemones ( a couple posted here too) so it feels nice.

quickcord: Thank you!

chupakabra: Oh boy, that would be a very long post! I can tell you they are in an Elos system 70 right now with 3 tunzes and 1 vortech. The giganteas will be going into a 150 gallon cube and I plan to go with the nano wavebox along with 3 other tunzes for alternating wave simulation. I think total will be around 10,000-12,000 gph without wavebox. It needs to be tidal, they shouldn't be pelted constantly with flow in my opinion.

Haddoni tank has 1 tunze on wave simulation.

Both setups have the Sfligoi XR4(?) which is 250w DE Phoenix bulbs.

Hope this helps!
