I would like to know if someone already have try to put an Chrysurus angel in a reef tank. I am having 2 tanks but now, selling both tank to make a bigger reef and i want to keep my chrysurus. He is still small, i had him when he was about an 1" and now he is about 2.5" He still have his juvenile form, his tail is starting to get yellow and around his eyes. My reef tank will mostly be SPS and LPS with clams.

Hope to get some of your experience in this. I have seen people with majestic, emperor, but none with a chrysurus. Its such a nice fish, i dont want to sell him.

is there any method to make him not eat LPS and clams? He is eating lots of pellets right now and mysis shrimp. He is still in my FO tank right now and he is the only fish. I see him swim all around all day, but he is not picking on the rocks, maybe its a good sign?

I don't think that he is reef safe. It is better to keep him in an aquarium without inverts and corals.

right now, as invert in my FO, there is lots of snails such as Astrea, turbo and a big hermit crab. He is not touching any of them, at first when introduced, he was but never to kill one, maybe just my curiosity, but nowaday, i dont see him picking at them anymore. My new system will be around 420G. I might try right now putting a clam and some other corals to see if he might nip at them, any other solution i might have to try?

Thats ok to me, i am ready to lose zoo and soft corals, i am more afraid for LPS and Clam since i dont think he will be nipping all the SPS polyps right?

Are the possibility of the angel nipping is higher than the Emperator or the Majestic?
