whats the differance between bbq and grilled?
BBQ is done slow with low heat (slow and low) and Grilled is what most consider to be bbq, just because it was done on a grill. I think if you get grill marks on your meat then the temp is to high to be true BBQ, that's grilling. It's the same equipment, just a different technique

Iron skillet: Salt, pepper, and oil the meat. Heat all the way up on the stove, oven to 325 or so:

sear 3 minutes each side, then let rest for 30-45 minutes on a cooling rack

Bake in 325 oven for 12 minutes for rare, 15 for medium

I made filets on it, and short of having an infrared broiler, it was the juiciest stake I'd ever had, especially for me making it instead of a store.

I thought u college guys only use the foreman grill:D

UGH! I HATE FOREMAN GRILLS!!!

My friends tried to convert me to a george foreman... Pffft. No thanks... Lean, Mean, turns my beautiful red meat steak into some disgusting soft piece of grey matter (yes, it looks like brains after). Ugh. No thanks. I'll take my iron skillet any day.

Granted, as a college student I can't afford steak very often, I can less afford a GF grill. Iron skillet is like $10.

BTW, in case anyone was wondering (which noone was), an Iron skillet is THE most versatile kitchen utility tool. Fill it with oil and deep-fry, use it to sear and bake steaks, use it as a griddle, fry some onions on it, WHATEVER! and it'll do it all. Only downside is cleanup if you didn't use enough oil/butter/etc.
