Cincy Must See Store

Hey guys, tomorrow we are visiting Cincinnati (sorry I know this is this central Ohio Club but the Cincy one is pretty dead) on the northside.

Are there any must see aquarium shops I should check out?

I was debating on checking out a local shop or going to the Newport Aquarium.

IMO skip the Aquarium.

There are a couple good shops up there but unfortunately I don't remember which ones are which. One even has a tank with a couple black tip reef sharks. I think it's Aquatics and Exotics. It's been quite a while since I've been down so call ahead to make sure they are even still there.

Definitely visit the Newport Aquarium. It is a nice setup with lot's of cool exhibits.
I like it as well as the Boston Aquarium.
Although I like the Georgia Aquarium and the Ripley's Aquarium of the Smokies better.

Not sure if any stores will be open on New Years Day, but here are a couple of maps that might help you find some LFS.

Have a Happy New Year.

I'd skip the Newport aquarium as it's overpriced for what you get. I can personally vouch for Monfort aquarium as a great shop. Aquatics and exotics is close by also but not really sure who is open tomorrow new years day.

Monfort and Wet Pets are close enough to each other it is worth the trip. Just did a trip while I was back in Dayton. They may not be receiving too many shipments over the holidays so it may a bit scarce. Personally, for the price and size of colonies I would buy from Wet Pets if their open. I saw some nice Trachyphyllia there for $60 with some nice larger zoanthid colonies. Monfort had some decent prices on fish.

Awesome. I'm a day ahead of myself. We will be there Saturday.

Thanks for the suggestions. Maybe I'll save the Newport Aquarium trip for a Reds game trip.

Don't believe the haters, the Aquarium is great. I guess people expect a lot these days, but I can promise that I found it worth my while, and I drove three hours to get there.

Well, yesterday I went to Wet Pets, Monfort, and Aquatics and Exotics.

Wet Pets had a lot of coral and a pretty big display. I was really disturbed by the number of dead/dying fish and the ones that were still alive had fin rot. My fiance couldn't stay there long because is was pretty disturbing.

We then went to Monfort. They really have a nice selection. A lot of great looking anemones too. They had some nice pieces of Frogspawn which is what I would like to add next. They also had an awesome looking snowflake eel. Whenever I see one around here they are gray. This little guy was white with black/yellow spots just like the one in the picture on LA.com. May have to swing by and see if he is still there when we go back.

Aquatics and Exotics was really cool. Obviously the shark tank was a nice highlight. They don't really have much coral, but they do have a lot of really nice show size fish. One that stuck out was a real nice Adult Emperor Angel.

We will be going back in a couple weeks, I'll probably go by Monfort again.
