They look Very similar to that pair actually, mine just have a little thicker white bands on the head..... I am not sure where they had come from, I was told they were from the lfs breeding house.....

Pay attention on the band.........

A. frenatus (Tomato) have a black line that border the white/blue band.......

A. rubrocinctus do not have this black line...........

Your fishes have this black line surrounding the band..........???

Yes, they have the black line that borders the white/blue band

I think that they are A. frenatus...........

If they start to fight...........you have to assume that they are two Females......

If you have two tanks..........you can buy two small Males.........and try to make two pairs.........

Or if you have only this tank..........choose one Female and change it for a Male.........

Small............bright Red/Orange............

It will dance in front of the Female..............

Ok, Thanks, I cant figure out if they are both females or not, I see the bigger one always nipping at the smaller one and the smaller one does not fight back.

But they act like a pair.....or the smallers is always frightened.......and try to be hidden..........most of the time.........???

Smaller one is not frightened and he will run off when the large one nips him or they will go in circles for a minute and then the small when will run off.. I think they are a pair I think I just need to wait a little longer

Those are frenatus. Older males in captivity can take on a similar look to the females but never get quite as big. A local store has a pair that are 18 years old and they look just like your fish, just a little more long in the tooth.

Malaysia fishes tends to be like that.................

Redang Island..........Peninsular Malaysia...........Thailand Gulf........

I found that A. frenatus from Malaysia is a bit different from the ones from Philippines and Japan..........

Malaysia Males tends to have more black over the body.......

Perhenthian Islands..........

These males have small size...........but have lots of black color..........

Great pics as always Yuri. Like you, I'm highly interested in the geographical variation within each species of clown.

I suspect that these fishes from this thread.........are Malaysian A. frenatus........

And this is a nice finding.............
