Well I was in my LFS again and saw yet another Magnifica This one has a cut on the edge of its oral disc. Even though its not fully inflated the mags over a foot wide. Talked to the owner again and picked it up. This one is in much better shape then my other recovering Mag no major bleaching or major deflating. I originally placed him in my one reef tank, but started to to see signs that I should medicate before things went south as I was worried about the cut being infected. It's sad to see how rough these creatures come into my area fish stores.

The hospital tank is set up the same as last time. PH and Heater are blocked off by egg create. I also have a small HOB filter running for some added flow along with an air pump.

Junkie Iphone pictures.

Heres a picture of it in the hospital tank about an hour after the move. Mouth open from pooping closed up 20 min or so after this picture.

First round of Cipro was last night if all goes well I plan to end treatment this coming weekend. Fingers crossed I can save this one as its amazingly large!! Could easily eat any fish in my tank without breaking a sweat.

Looking at trying to pick up a 24" x 24" frag tank as this 30 gal isn't wide enough. Tentacles can touch the glass both sides.

Fiancé named it Maximus other mag is Fred lol.

Your luck at finding these amazes me.

Your documentation impresses me more.

Keep it up and I look forward to watching this one too.

When I first heard about doing Cipro there were so few documented cases. I just wish more info was available so more anemones could be saved.

Here are a few pictures I took tonight under 250W 10k MH

Need to try and pick up a larger tank this week for sure!!

Has anyone ever seen this behavior before? The Mag has a few injured tentacles with some guts sticking out of the the wounds. The anemone seems to be trying to eat/rip the guts totally out. Maybe so the wound can heal?

Off topic.

Why does phone pictures often give bands like this? How can we get rid of these band?

I believe it has to do with a mix of the HZ the lighting runs at and possible the grain of the glass. Polarized filter could possible fix it I'll have to check it out tonight.

Day 3 of treatment first thing this morning after a quick 60% water change.

Amazing colors on this Mag. I'm not an avid Mag follower, but boy this one looks nice... given the size, when it's fully inflated it's going to need a 150G all to itself.... Time to upgrade? :-)

Already go the Ok with the lady on an upgrade/ fish room!! haha

Same LFS that had the first one you treated?

Big Mag like this is going to need a 24 inch depth, at least.

No not the same LFS.

Mags in about 15" of water now.

Here is a quick picture this morning after the water change and Cipro. Again I did 50% water change and 250MG of Cipro. I have changed brands of cipro as my old script finally ran out. New stuff is off ebay so hopefully its real...

Sorry, I meant that this Mag is big and is going to need a display that is at least 24 inches from front to back.

Well I finally moved the mag into the main tank. Seems to be doing great. Been feeding him every few days. The cut on the edge of his oral disc is 100% healed. I'm not sure if its the 14k MH vs the 10k MH on the hospital tank. main tank has 2 250W 14k MH. Mags coloring just isn't as green and vibrant.

This is just how looked before the move under 10k MH

After under 2 14k MH

Has anyone ever notice such a big difference from 10k to 14k? Under the 14k he looks bleached almost.

10k is a more yellow light 14 k is more on the bluer side mine looks just like yours under 14k
that is a real nice mag either way you look at it and good job on the save

Its been awhile since I've updated this thread. Mag is doing very well the cut on the outer edge of its disc is finally healed up. You can see the injured section in the front with all the short tentacles. In the past week or so the tentacles have finally started to extend slowly. Mag has been keeping the injured section folded up. Mag is super sticky and always hungry!!
