Cirrhilabrus luteovittatus

Hi all

anyone got this fairy? Just because I could order one and think this wrasse is very good looking.

Maybe does anyone have some experiences to share..

They are getting big but are not that aggressive I read.

I had one years back, it was one of the first fairy wrasses that I kept.

No aggression from him, but after about 6months his color started to fade.

I had one once as well, a few years back. He was a large male, and kept color well. He was also a big puppy dog, and had a great personality.

They are stories out there of them occasionally being rather aggressive, but that was far from my experience. There's certainly some aggression potential, however.

Had one for about 5 yrs that got large, kept color, and was never a problem...typical fairy, became 'terminal male' and terminated!...took a while, but I finally got a replacement from LA a few months ago, and it's doing great !

Ok.. so this fairy should keep his colour on the most tanks. I will check price tag and maybe order it. Did this cirrhilabrus grow fast?

Never 'charted' growth rates, but IMO, no faster than other fairies

Sounds great. Im in a dilemma as my LFS got some very nice fishes in. C. jordani female, Anampses caeruleopunctatus, C. laboutei, Anampses twistii, C. luteovittatus and I already bought A. chrysocephalus female and C. lineatus

What should I do :D

Well, if you really want to be a member of the 'we love wrasses club', you'll have to buy them ALL!

I would stay away from C. laboutei due to how aggressive they can get with other wrasses as they mature. A female C. jordani is a good choice, assuming it is priced right. I don't have experience with the Anampses, so can't help with those.

I just asked how much they want for the female C. jordani. They told me they will let me know on monday. I hope its not that high as C. jordani is rare here in Europe. For my C. lineatus I have to pay $200.

They told me they got a C. condei in. Never saw one in person.. Are they nice?

Lineatus pricing doesn't sound bad
Female flame is a good choice if pricing is fair.
IME condei can be aggressive, and coloring is average (for a fairy)... I no longer keep them!

Ok, so I will not get the condei. Dont want aggressive fishes in my tank. I just ordered the female C. jordani. They made a special price for me and I just have to pay $120. I guess thats fair.

Ive read that female jordanis can be aggressive. But they turn male fast. Is that correct?

Yes, stay away from C. condei.

Also note A. caeruleopunctatus is a very big fish once mature; needs a large tank.

Jordani is typically quite mild in temperament. I wouldn't fret there.

OK thanks for your advice. I have now ordered the female C. jordani and shold receive it on friday. I have 3 wrasses in my QT tank right now. C. lineatus (terminal male), P. cerasinus (female) and A. chrysocephalus (female).

I think that I will intro all 4 at the same time in my DT. There is only a terminal male C. exquisitus in my DT at the moment. Should work I think.
