Right now I am trying to deside if I want to set up my 55g hex as a SH tank or a full on sps reef. being that it s a hex it is very hard to have any type of flow rate that does not invole a circular moation. the tanks is 24" corner to corner( arcoss) and 24" deep.

What I want to know is how much flow in circular moation can a larger SH take?

I am plaing on using a 36x18x12 fuge above the tank and puting about 150- 200 gph thru it plus about another 100-200 gph in the tank thru some type of spary bar setu up( mostlikly lots of lock line) Would this work? or should I tone it down?

do too the shape of this tank it is very hard to prevent "dead spots" and having two out puts/ power heads working against each other always ends up having 1 win and a circular current.

any thoughs and ideas would be helpful.

are you sure thats a 55?

how large is each side?
my 30-ish gallon hex has the same dimensions.... I think...

anyways, I have my horses in a hex, and its great!!!! ummm, they don't like a lot of flow, but I don't have 'dead spots'-its NOTHING like a reef tank. there are low-flow areas, but nothing is completely unmoving-all I have is a maxi-600 and a skimmer... If you have the fuge flow and one power head, that should be plenty!!!

see-my sides are only 11 inches... my math came to, like 32 ish gallons or so, but it measures the same as a '35' gallon hex from the petstore.

anyways, hexes are GREAT tanks for horses!!!
