oct2274 is completely correct. The ones made in the last 2 years or so all have AO Smith motors.

Also, I dont understand why theyre being suggested. Theyre horrifically inneficient when throttled back below about 50%.

400gph at 128w?

Ack! Should have read the OP more carefully....not recommending a large sequence here :D

The quietone4000 is an internal, but runs 1000gph at 50w.

THe tinymight runs about 1200gph and uses 80w or so.

Laguna 1500 does 1500gph and runs under 100w. (submersible)

There are plenty of pumps that would work.

The QO4000, is grossly over-rated, the slightest head-pressure like even a OM unit and its flow drops fast. And a closed loop pump needs to be reliable without starting issues.

The Laguna 1500 on a closed loop? Maybe outside, not anywhere near my floors.

The tinymight is interesting, but it is marketed for spas, what is its long term reliability in saltwater?

There is a huge hole in the market for a 1500 gph, low head/low wattage pump closed loop pump. The Reeflo throttled down makes more sense than anything else I have seen.

kysard1 - I'm really finding that out right now! It's hard to find something that fits the flow I want without sucking up a ton of power. From everyone's suggestions here I'm almost positive I'll go with a reeflo Snapper. It's considerably more than I was anticipating spending on a CL pump, but seems worth it. Are there any places what have good sales or deals on these pumps, or am I pretty much looking at about $200 new?

Alright, you guys were awesome with your help on the pump, now I'd like to get the most out of it. I was thinking it would be easier (in my head) to justify buying the dart or snapper if I could get away with not having to buy a return for the 30ga. I posted another thread asking about plumbing help, then thought if anyone was still tagging along this thread maybe you'd have thoughts.

Go with Tunze's Streams (6101's) and the Multi Controller (7095), gives way more flexibility and no chances for leaks. Also in the long run cheaper. CL's are permanent, reef tanks change, but CL's remain the same. Just my take anyway.

There's a few reason's why I'm not going with Tunze - the main one being that I'm in college, and they're really expensive. I'll be able to do the CL system for less than half the price of what I'd need from Tunze. Also, I'm planning for flexibility with the CL - the output is going to a manifold on the rim of the tank with 4x6" 3/4 dia. loc-line outputs. I'll be running some calculations on the manifold to make sure it doesn't introduce a significant amount of back pressure.

i have a pair of Tunze 6100s w/ the multi-controller in my 180, had them in there for about 4 yrs now, but about 2 yrs ago i drilled four 1.5" bulkheads into the back of the tank for a ReeFlo Hammerhead on CL. Tunze's are great and i recommend them to allot of people, closed loops work great too when you plan them out. with the 1.5" 'Omni Flex Nozzles'made by Paul over at Oceans Motions you can have as good of versatility out of a large CL as you can the streams with allot less clutter in the tank.

You might want to consider a 1/2" instead of 3/4" manifold with that pump. My 1800gph pump with 3/4" only produced a "trickle" instead of a flow; 1/2" is working very well.
