clam attachment ?

can clams attach themselves to flat rocks or does it have to be porous for the threads to hold on to?
and how long does it usually take

No problem. Lots of people use the half shell from a dead clam to mount the clam. That's certainly not porous. And if conditions are right, it will start to attach in a few hours and become secure in a couple of days.

Yes my clam attached itself securely in two days.

Now, does anyone know how to remove one? Can i gently pull him off the rock?

dont pull it off.

gently tip it to one side and take a sharp knife and cut the byssal threads as far away from the clam as you can
