Clam Detached itself.....problem?

This morning I woke up to find that one of my croceas had detached itself and almost had fallen off the rock it was placed on.
I propped it back up and looked at the byssal. It seemed a little puffed out but nothing to bad.
This clam seemed to be doing fine for the past week or so and was open and healthy looking, as well as anchored.
Anyone know why a clam would detach itself?

this is the only way the clam can move once he has attached. as long as the clam let go on his own and wasn't forcefully moved he should be just fine.

does he look normal other than having let go?

Ya, maybe not open QUITE as much as he normally was the past week but barely noticeable.
I have been feeding DT's and oyster eggs regularly.
I was actually having a problem with my other clam not opening but it has been looking great for the past 3 days.
Also, in another post I mentioned that there was like a growth on the side of the shell but it was part of the shell and the same material. Something like a barnicle. Well in this "barnicle" there is some kind of snail living in there that pokes out and likes to bother the mantle. I have tried jamming a knife in there to kill it and scraping it out but it just won't die......Any recommendations on how to get rid of it?

Aside from this post.....what kind of bikes do you ride 4twenty?

ugly face??? sounds like a vermetid snail , you can scrap him ( shell and all ) off the clams shell if he is bothering the clam, i have had them on my gigas before with no problems.

i used to have a gsxr-750, vfr-750 before that, gsx 750 before that and a gs 400 to start ( yeah i really liked suzuki ). i've had to many accidents ( not my fault ) and really just want to live now, plus insurance is insane on anything above 600 here in Canada. i still have my yz 250 for messing around and great track just around the corner.

I have a CBR900 and a GSX-600.
They are both for sale right now, I decided to take it a little easier myself. It's a great adrenaline rush but after realizing how ridiculous it really is you really have to realize it's not worth it.
My riding skills have way exceeded public road use and I don't think I can bend the rules of gravity much farther. :D
Fortunetly I have not gotten in any accidents yet so I think I am quitting while I'm ahead.

The CBR was a stunt bike but heres my gsxr.

Pilot Power Tires, BMC Race Filter, Power Commander, GSXR-1000 Titanium Header with D&D Slip-on, Vortex Sprockets (+2/-1 gearing) with 525 pitch O-Ring chain, Hot Bodies Undertail with LED's, Integrated blinkers, Tinted Windscreen

Back to the topic....yes it is a vermetid.

nice bike, the rider in the last shot is a little sweetie :)

yeah, it's unfortunate. i seems like i can't make it through a weekend without hearing about a motorcycle fatality, i don't know if its in experienced riders or just bad drivers. i have been riding since i was little kid and at 16 i bought an enduro to graduate to the street. since then i have been rammed, cut off, rear ended, you name it and while it hasn't been my fault the weeks off work and visits to the hospital just weren't working for me.

you can scrap the vermetid off or maybe try some kalk paste, i just don't like using stuff like that to close to the clams mantle.
