"clam disease" in NorCal any recent experience with clams bought in local stores?

Hi has anybody in Northern California bought clams recently from any of the local stores? It seems the problem that we had a few months ago is gone,*knock on wood*, so how are things now? I saw some clams at AC and was tempted to buy a couple but wasn't sure or ready to take the risk if there still is one. Any comments? Thanks all.

Basically a few months ago there was a scare where clams from Phonpei I believe were brought in and at the wholesalers, the conditions weren't all that great and that stressed a lot of clams and succesive shipments afterwords. People would get a new clam or two to introduce into their tank and have all clams die in a matter of days to weeks, the mantle pulling into the shell suddenly one day and just dying. Try and do a search on the forum, that will explain it better than I can lol.

Cal I bought 3 clams from AC and they are all doing awesome. The clams there are all from ORA and they are doing great in my tank. I heard of the clam disease but I don't think ORA clams were affected. If they were the ones I got are fine...

AC has a bunch right now. They all look pretty good. There are some exceptional ones with great color and patterns there....

Thanks kyzmyss1. How many weeks have you had the clams? I was aware that the clams AC gets are ORA but a few months ago with the disease even these clams were affected since they were in the system that previously had sick clams. Did AC have any more of the smaller clams? Once they got to about 2"-2.5" the prices jumped up a lot compared to the 1.5".

Ive had 2 clams since the beginning of April and one that I just bought beginning of May....Yeah they still have a lot of the smaller clams. A few with awesome patterns on them....

I hear smaller clams are a little more touchy as far as survivability is concerned...

Hope this helps.
