the other day i found this flatworm that looked just like the mantle of a gold maxima. i have id'd it and it eats clams. now i know why clams dont last long in my tank. i have never seen one in the tank before but where there is one there are more for sure. i bought a beautiful blue maxima last week and i dont want to loose it.

what can i do???? would treating the tank with flatworm exit work???

please help :(

flatworm exit will work. use 1.5 the recommended dosage for effective treatment.
to permanently cure your tank dip all your rocks in FW to kill off as much as possible. after the dip, remove the clam and place in its own water. proceed to use FWE on your tank. after an hour, do a 20% water change, add carbon, and run skimmer. repeat the FWE treatment after 24 hours to make sure you didn't miss anything.

can you post a pic of the FW?

what should i do then,,,, i have a 90 gal and it is not possible to do a freshwater dip for each rock.... how do i get rid of them if they are there.... :(

if like mbbuna said a fwe won't work, a freshwater dip should work. just make sure you use a turkey baster and baste the clam all over to get rid of it. keep the dip short, and match the temperature of the fw with the sw. you might want to isolate the clam when you place it back in the tank, such as a strawberry basket just in case its weakened and other things bother it.

will a freshwater dip for the rocks kill the coralin algea?? what if it kills enough bacteria so it wont be able to support the bio load, is that possible? i wanted to do it before but i was scared to.

it's so wierd many people are findind that polyclad worm in their tanks also some friends of mine.they have got their clam killed by this worm his name should be Pericelis sp.

i dont know -- it is pretty big . they are the size of a silver dollar.

i just found another one in another tank-- my aquapod. i put it into a bucket and added flatworm exit. i added 4 x's the dose and it did not die. :(

has anyone else had them? would a sixline eat them?

a wrasse might eat them if it was small but as you've found they get pretty large. they can grow to the size of a dollar bill.

i never knew they were there. i found them by accident. they blend in very very well. if i see them i can remove them easily. it is finding them that is the problem. i dont even know there are more. i just dont want to take any chances.
