Clam id please

Hello everyone I just bought this clam cheap this weekend and im not sure what kind it is. Is it a (teardrop or golden) or what it was sold as a maxima but i dont know what kind please id this clam for me thanks daniel

Doesn't look like any maxima I've seen... then again I've never heard any clam referred to as a teardrop or whatever. Looks a lot more like a T. crocea to me, but check this guide out and you can figure it out yourself. http://reefkeeping.com/issues/2002-07/jf/feature/index.htm

So teardrop and snakeskin are just indicators of pattern then? Better than saying "kinda goldish with darker spots and then some lighter spots..." huh? I just sent that link because the mantle picture seemed a little foggy, and sometimes I find they're easier to identify from the shell. I work in the museum of natural history's invert collection here and the tridacnids are usually ID'd by their shell alone.
