Clam in Acropora

Something new for me.

I recently got a new Australian Acropora. But when i got home i noticed a clam inside my acro. First i thought it would be dead. However yesterday night i used a flashlight to look at my corals. And i noticed the clam close.

Do i need to remove it.

I got a very pour picture (i made a photo of the acro not yet knowing it had a clam).

Any thoughts?

I have a small oyster growing in my Loripes colony for the past 8 months. I don't think the acro cares.

Awww...what a cutie. Keep us updated please. Clams that small usually dont make it but if yours does we need to examine your system.

Wow, that is a gorgous acro! My lfs recently got some tiny clams in; they are so cute but I know they probably wouldn't last long in my system.

Well since you'd like a little update.

I got good and bad news. (i'll inspect the clam itszelf later).

The acro started with some really slow STN around the clam. I've cut of some parts.

Thats the bad news. The good news is all frags are showing even deeper red color and also the main colony is now coloring up again. And the STN seem to have stopped. I've attached a picture of one of the small frags. (i got five scattered around the tank.

Just looked in the acro and its still alive (the clam that is). I'm wondering how it will turn out.

Tbh i have no clue. it got a pretty flat shell so thats all i can tell you. It would be cool if it would turn out to be a colorfull clam.

I had a little clam like yours covered in a zoa colony i bought. He started to open, killed the zoas around his mouth, dropped onto my torch frag and now is living side by side to the torch. Its very funny to see a clam covered in zoas

I could have had the same problem too the acro is bleached (STN) around the clam. I fragged it but the STN stopped. Well now it can't hurt the coral anymore lets see how it grows.

The clam is still alive however i can't make up what it is.
