Clam keepers... is my tank ready?

Hi clam reefers! My tank is a little over 6mos old. I have an oscellaris clown, a firefish, 5 small corals (plate, frogspawn, polyps, zoanthid, palythoa), an emeral crab, 5 hermits and 10+ snails (nassarius, margartia).

Params (average):
trites/trates: 0
ph:8.2
calcium: 400-410
temp: 76-80F

Lighting: 96W Tek T5 (2x actinic, 1x10000, 1x6500)

I like the croceas and maximas because of the cool colors. they also seem to be readily available at most of my lfs.

By my research, I think the tank is okay for a clam. I've read split decisions on my lighting. Most of the "professional" readings suggest needing much more light, but many reefer posts (as well as the guys at various lfs) suggest that my light would be fine for a clam.

What do you think?

Good point, manwithcrabs, and I always take their advice with a grain of salt specifically because of that reason. But... They also run a system of several thousand gallons with hundreds of fish and inverts. I do give them *some* credit.

But I want to know what *you* think. I take reef central advice very seriously. I didn't get a mandarin because the RC community came together to give me a lot of consistent advice about my tank size and mandarin needs.

Does anyone else have advice about my getting/not getting a clam?
