Bleaching as in browning and losing pigments, right?

And stretching as in mouth wide open as opposed to barely open, right?
 
No bleaching means turning white in spots. And streaching its mantle up towards the light.

Can you post a pic of the clam in question?

Yeah sure. But I can't afford a camera so I will be using the camera of my phone. I'll post them up tomorrow.

The brown spots were already on there when I bought them, these are my first clams so I didnt know how to differentiate between grades.

what type of lighting do you have the clam under?

I'm running 4 54w t-5 HO bulbs with SLRs. The clam is about 14" below the surface with 3" between the bulbs and the surface.
