HI Had a green maxima and its about 25cm long. I had it for 2 month now and the past few days the clam is starting to loose it color, its now dark dark brown and with a little bit of green.

My water param is all good and i have 3 x 150W metail halide and 4 x 54w Actinic.

Please help.

trying to post pic but couldnt get it working....i change new bulbs about 2 weeks ago, its 20,000k and the tank is 2 foot deep with the clam at the bottom.

20K bulbs start with a lot less PAR than a 10K - 15K and don't have the penetrating power needed to get the proper light volume to the bottom of your 24" deep tank.

did you replace 20K bulbs or were they a different kelvin??

your clam will do much better if you can find a nice place for him up on the rocks, closer to the light. maximas need as much light as a crocea an are even more delicate.

i had that problem with my clam for a while and then realized i had my light on for to long i had it running for about 12 hours and then cut down my lighting to about 8 and noticed a huge increase in color to my corals as well, ( damn timer malfunction)

Try and feed it phytoplankton that might help this seemed to help me when I first started keeping clams they grow fast and have great colors also check the bulbs.
