My maxima clam that I got yesterday is folded over in one spot. I tried fixing it but it closed up. Will it fix this on it's own? Please help!

check it really well for pyram snails and keep an eye on it for another day or two, if it dosent improve(in 2 days) then post back

It was in the bottom of an sps tank for the last 8 years, I'm pretty sure it doesn't have any parasites. BTW anyone know what type of maxima it is?

about 6". It was shaded in the bottom of the tank it was in. The guy's tank it was in had about $20K in SPS

I had the clam high up all day and this morning I found him upside down in the sand. When I placed him upright in the sand he opened up and was not folded on any part of his body. Should I just keep him on the sand, he seems happier there since he's lived his whole life on the sandbed? I have DT's live photo and another type of photo thats not alive that I can supplement him with. What should I do?!

IF he is happpy leave him on the sand!!! A clam that size gets most of his energy from your lights, but still needs some phyto. (so use phyto sparingly) I had a crocea start doing that (folding/pinching mantle) when I removed my polyfilter. When I replaced my polyfilter he returned to normal almost instantly. So, if he's happy leave him alone and add a little phyto.

I forgot to mention that he's under 2x150W MH w/phoenix 14K bulbs in a sunpod fixture (electronic ballast and 12 white/12 blue LEDs) in a 20" deep tank
