clam newbie questions

if my derasa's mantle (i think that's what it's called-the brown flesh on the inside of the clam's shell) is extending a lot past the shell, is that good? i tend to think so, but don't want to assume incorrectly and kill of my clam.

i took people's advice on this forum & have been feeding it dts live phyto. it seems to be doing well with this feeding.

this is what a healthy Derasa looks like.
the mantle is overhanging the shell by about 1 1/2" to 2"

ok, great, that's what i meant. then my derasa is indeed growing using dts phyto. thanks.
