Clam Pedestals

Okay, here's a crazy idea I had...

I'm always sick of clams attaching to the bottom of my tank, or on the rock in a bad position where I can't see the darn thing. Or it's keeps falling over... Or jumping, or what ever... What if you could position the clam where ever you want and you could rotate it so you can see the best side of it?

Fill it with what ever media you want/need based on the type of clam (course for Croceas and Maximas, fine for Derasa and Hippo) pictured is crushed coral.

Just got some more acrylic to build some more for the SCMAS club members but I didn't want to exclude anyone! Right now I'm just trying to cover my costs to see if there is much interest so I'm offering 2" pedestals for $2.50 if you want a taller one just ask, I figure I basically can do $1.00 per 1" so a 6" tall pedestal would be $6.50

LMK your thoughts or any questions. :D

I've got some headed up to Denver, for mdrumm and I can fit more than 1 per box (not too many as they are small boxes) but if others would like some and split the 3 bucks, I'm cool with it.

I could see aquascaping a whole tank with that - kindof a retro 70's look I guess...

Brian, I order the acrylic online, if I decide to do more mass production I'll try to get it cheaper...

scaast, If I can find a local source I'd be thrilled.

Adova, I've had the same though before, as long as you had a sump full of live rock I think it would very cool!!!

Love the look, but just a thought. Maybe fill the pedestals with media and then epoxy to keep the algae away on the inside.

rkl303 has a good point. The pedastals could be made with black acrylic and eventually the coraline would grow over them for a more "natural" look without algae growing inside.
Great idea Eric

I was thinking you could also fill the pedestals up half way with rubble and you could put your loose frag in there to attach. It would protect them from the current, keeping them from getting blown away, or from any livestock moving it. :D

It would also be a nice photo stand for frags/plugs...
