Clam placement-sand or rock work?

i have Crocea and Maxima clams. right now they are in the rock work in my 180 gallon about 8-10" underwater from a 250 watt halide.

my new tank is lit with a skylight, no electric lights. right now i am getting a high PAR value of 1500-1800 on the sandbed during peak hours of the day.

so the light is good wherever i place them. what do they prefer?

sand or rock work?

Both would prefer the rocks. As far as PAR, and what you're putting in with the lights compared to the MH, I have no idea.

They like to attach themselves to something solid when available. If your sand bed is shallow, they may end up attaching to the glass below.

thanks all, my sand bed is not shallow. i will put them in the rockwork.
