Clam predators?

This is sort of a two-part question...

My crocea has this worm-looking thing growing on the side of it. It looks like a snail/worm that has created a hard calcerous white skeleton/shell on the outside of my clam at the top by the mantle. It sends out these "streamers" to feed and seems to be bothering my clam. I'm not sure if it's eating the clam, but don't think so... just irritating. Does anyone know what it is? How can I get rid of it?

After some looking I have failed to come up with a website that has descriptions/pictures of various clam predators and/or symbiotic animals. Does anyone have any info?

It is a little snail/worm. My crocea has one also, as well as a decent sized sponge. Harmless creatures. If you hate it, pry it off - forceps perhaps?

Its a vermetid snail? my spelling is wrong I am sure, but that is what it is. It isn't harmful to the clam, but probably irritating it.

it sounds like a Vermetid snail but a photo would help.

as for a site that lists clam predators i don't know of one but it would have to be a big one "D

use the cutter and cut as closely as possible to the base of the vermetid snail. careful you don't want to cut the clam itself, though unlikely. then use toothpick and pry out the guts. you should see some red blood matter and flesh. you can then feed this straight to your fish.
