clam problems

so at the last frag swap i purchased one of the clams.
this is my first one so i dont have much experience with them.

seems this guy would rather hang upside down from the side of the tank than attach himself to the clam rock tray that came with him. he is staying in the same area of the tank, he just keeps flipping upside down and reattaches to the glass.

what can i do to encourage him to attach to the tray, also what is the best way to remove the footing without hurting him??

thanks in advance.

In a calm, yet strict voice, tell it to stop freaking moving

LMAO awesome. I feel your pain, the rose BTA I picked up has not stopped moving, I have had to rearrange all my corals every day since I got it. Its wiped out more then a few frags so far. Seems my lights are super bright, it hides from them then when the night lights come on goes for a walk-about all over the tank. I'm hoping he picks a spot soon, he's amazing looking just a bit of a walker.
My clam hasn't moved, I put it on the sand and its happy.....as a clam.....:D

If you are still trying for an SPS tank then I'd get rid of that RBTA. Few things worse than finally getting nice growth on your SPS only to have the RBTA kill it. And they can be a real pain to move once they find their spot.

And that's experience speaking loud and clear

based on the advice given, i have politely, but firmly, asked that it remain on the tray.
if this doesnt work ill try making a small container of sand to set it in.
currently it resides in a sandless frag tank.

Are you sure you are seeing this clam correctly? Without your poker glasses on during the day time that is :blown:

Is it in the bottom of the tank? That's where I would place if.

Thanks Mike, I have moved it to my frag tank. It killed a good part of my sand dollar monti and that was the final straw. I was about to frag it this weekend.... So the RBTA now is in my frag tank, it has its own 14k kessil 150and hasn't moved in two days, So I'm thinking its at home.

Not trying to hijack this thread, now back to
clams.

They are great!

Cheers, Tom
