clam proximity

Hey klaksib and Ereefic ... I was wondering if you'd seen this, as that seems to be in your agenda.

Once you get it up, I'll have to bring Kris down ... convince her it's mandatory :D

Middleton Mark,
This was my inspiration. Roidan is my new hero. I hope to have a setup as nice as his. :) I'm sooo excited.

Nice set-up!!

How do you have the system plumbed?

i just placed a pump in one section of the sump to pump water into the clam tank and then the overflow box in the clam tank will drain water via a durso pipe to another part of the sump....

the pipings are between the 2 cabinets at the gap but not obvious from the pic :)

Wow roidan Very nice.
You have inspired me to add a clam tank. I have an extra 2 X 2 X 1 in my basement. I wonder if the bottom can be drilled?

more pics of the actual reef would be kinda out of topic in this clam section..... :)

it's hard work, hard cash and plenty of luck ;)

well, i am not too sure of drilling tanks, because i dare not try to do so myself, but i am sure there are many threads here on drilling holes...

its best to construct an overflow box just like a usual reef tank and have a durso in there to silence the waterfall gushing sound

wow that silver cro is soo nice. I wish I could see it in person.....

how often do you see those silver ones?

Not often..in fact, is the only one i have seen so far...
i could take more pics of it if u want :)

I have drilled tanks before using a Dremel tool with a ceramic tile cutting bit. Works well and is easy if you take your time.
I could drill it in the center and put a durso on it.

The only issue is if the tank has a tempered bottom. If its tempered it will shatter when I try to drill it. I don't know who made my tank or I would ask them if it is tempered. Who made yours do you know?

Also what time is it where you live? It is 9:50 PM here in Boston

Also I would like more pics of your silver and any others you want to throw in

Roidan, can you give details on your whole set-up?

Where do you have the return pump that goes to the clam tank located in the sump? Before, after skimmer? Flow rate in the clam tank? Pics would help too if you have any.

Thanks.

tempered glass is quite tricky to drill...requires much more skill, steady hands and luck to do it successful, because due to the high heat treatment given to tempered glass, it has become more *compacted* than normal glass which gives rise to its high strength...

i stay in singapore, where it is GMT+8 timing
