Clam Qs in 12 gallon w/ 250 MH

Okay, I've got a 12 gallon nano-cube with a 250 watt 20k MH fixture above it, and am interested in keeping a clam large enough that it's photosynthesizing for food (I understand this is 3"+). I have a couple SPS that're doing great and then LPS/zoas for the rest of the tank w/ 2 firefish.

So, I've got 2 questions (I'm thinking a Crocea):

1) How far away from the light can my clam be? RIght now, the light is 14" from the surface of the water and 25" from sand.

2) How do you maintain adequate calcium levels? I do a 1 gallon a week waterchange using pre-mixed from a LFS - but from what I've read I'd need to supplement... How is this best accomplished in a small tank?

I posted at nano-reef too - want to make sure I do everything right to keep it happy :).

Thanks!
