Clam Question?

Hello,

I am relativly new here and have recently inherited a corcea clam with a used tank (in horrible shape) that I have purchased. I was suprised to see the clam still alive when I picked the tank up.

I brought the clam home and put him in our 300 gallon and after a brief adjustment he seems to be improving, but he has seemed to develope these "bumps" on his mantle. Has anyone seen this before? Thanks for the help.

bumps are normal....in my expereince they seem to get more pronounced if you put them under stronger light (so that's a good thing!)

Most clams over 2" don't really need to feed on phytoplankton as they get enough food from their symbiotic algea. Yours looks like it's a good 3"!

Good luck
