Clam Question

I am new to clams so please be kind;)
I bought my first clam a few weeks ago and I am wondering how to get it to stay put?
I moved it onto the rock to get it closer to the light. But even there it falls over a lot. In the sand it gets dirty and it also falls over.
Are you allowed to glue down a clam? I assume not?
If so, what glue can be used?
Thank you!
Alex

Alex,

I do not believe gluing animals to rocks should be encouraged nor should it be done. Clams possess the ability to lay down a foot to attach when it finds a place it is happy.

Thank you.
I was just worried that it cannot feed if it's on it's side. I guess I'll just keep a close eye on it & keep on sitting it upright until it lays down it's foot:)

if he is in a 130G reef tank with sufficient lighting he will not need to be fed.

what type of clam?

what lighting?

post a pic if you can.

It was doing well until it was eaten today:(
I saw it on my lunch break:(
Now I am unsure if I should get another one? What if that one gets eaten as well?
What in a tank would eat a clam?
I've seen the Yellow Tang that I am baby sitting picking at it before. Do you think the Tang ate it?

The only on the list that makes me wonder is the parrotfish.

you should also answer a4twenty's question - the lighting and type of clam may help explain why it kept trying to move.

Due to the quick demise of clams, it may look like it was picked apart but actually died for another reason. I would look at calcium and lighting outputs as potential issues as well.

It was a Derasa clam. 3inches long.
The light should have been ok. The tank has six 50/50 lights.
My hard corals & softies are doing great.
The calcium I have not checked yet:(

Hmmmm. I just got the Parrot Fish on Saturday- the clam was eaten Monday? I wonder if he did it. That would make sense.
