clam questions

I have two questions.

First, should a clam be placed on a rock if sitting on the sand bed? I have one that sits on the sand bed with no problems for about 6 months, but I've heard of them attaching them selves to the bottom of the tank (which is acrylic) and I've heard that can be bad?

My other question I think has been answered on another thread, but I have two others when they were on the sand bed the wound move around and fall on there side. I moved them to a rock and they have been there for 6 months or so and they have attached. I would like to move them back to the sand bed since that is valuable real estate for corals. they way they are on these rocks I really cant work a razor under then because there kind of sitting in hole that fits them perfectly so trying to move them a little and to try and cut them really cant work (i don't think).

Any info would be great, thanks

I used to have mine bare on teh sand bed, my buddy sdoes the same for over 2 years.
We both have DSB, so they never get to the acrylic.
it helps to have a rock on them, if you don;t ahve the dsb so u can move them.

clams like to attach to rocks to protect there byssal opening from predators, if u leave them on the sand its still good to put a rock under them, u can put it a half,to an inch under the sand so u cant see it and u can cut there threads to remove them as long as u cut at the rock and not neer the clam.
and as for prime real estate, there nothing like looking thru the rocks and finding an exquisite clam. LOL

If your clam does not like the rock, just put it on the sand bed. Put a rock just under the surface of the substrate so it can attach.
