Clam Spawing questions

Do clams ever spawn because of stress? I have been having a few problems lately with mine and I noticed today my golden tear drop maxima was spawing or at least thats what I think its doing. The fish are all gathering around eating white stuff its sptiiing out. This is the first time I have had this happen. Is there anything I should do or just let it do its thing?
thanks Gina

yes they will spawn from stress. you need to make sure your skimmer is working as best it can, make up new water for a water change and be ready to replace your carbon when its done.

you've been having some problems lately. im linking your other recent threads because i think everything might be related and if you have any more problems post them in this thread. if you keep starting new threads then no one will know what has just happened a few days ago.

give me some time to reread these

Ok so the tank looks fine as far as my corals and fish go, but my remaining clams don't look so good. they look stressed to me and they don't look open like they should. The one with the white on the shell is the one I am most concerned about.

I test daily before I add, and I use B-ionic calcium buffer system. Its 2 part. If just the calcium or just the alkalinity is low I add Seachem Clacium or carbonate alkalinity. I maintain my calcium at about 420-450 and alk at about 9.5 to 10. The B-Ionic products are dosed according to the directions and the seachem products are added according to where I need to bring my levels to.

Well I add them into the first part of my sump where the water from the tank comes in, that way it can go through the refugium and then back to the tank.

so i take it that means just dump it in? its ok to add the Ca part all at once but the Alk part at least should be slowly dripped because it will instantly change the Alk and PH and clams are especially sensitive to these two

I will do that from now on. I just got home from class and they look ok not gaping and not closed I hope they are coming through all this. What are they doing when the kinda pulse? Like they open and close a few times like their priming their pumps almost.

Ok so as of right now none of the others have died. They look a little better. how do I know whey they are in the clear?
sorry my Boyfriend was logged in

Ok so I guess I was wrong. My maxmia and another corcea died last night. I haven't changed anything, and I tested yesterday and All prams were good. I am at a complete loss. I have 4 corceas left. Could this be in infection or parasite that I can't see?

its possible you could have some kind of predator like polyclad flat worm, eunice or oenonidae

do a search here or google those names and see if you've seen anything like them

ok so I am down to 2 croceas and I still dont know what is causing the death. I haven't seen any worms since I moved them to the glass and my water prams havn't changed everything else in the tank is doing great. Does anyone have a wild guess I am desperate!
