apearently something bad happened here today and all of my mintiporas bleached/died. I came home and the house smelled bad, tank smelled worse. looks like I lostat least 8 colonies including a 16" diam cap colony (my first sps a frag in 1998). this has never happened before. weird thing is it only seems to have affected montiporas. everything eyles seems ok even the acroporas and bta's look normal.

the tank is milkey white. while trying to clean up this mess , I noticed my T.maxima clam is spawning. I wonder if that can cause a bleaching event?or vise-versa.????????

any one have any Idias as to what maw be going on? or what I can do.????

I've cleaned the skimmer, added a ton of carbon and did a water change (only 5% though as I ran out of salt)

Clams will often spawn when stressed.

It is hard to tell though - whether it was stressed and then spawned or rather it spawned thus depleting O2 in the water stressing the tank out...

Did you lose fish?

no fish loss, but lost all sps (a lot),serpent star, urchen, several shrimp, still wating to see on some lps. I think the mass rtn stressed the clam.

sorry to hear about your 16" cap dieing, that sucks!. I guess all you can do is water changes. Good luck buddy.
