I need your opinions... I plan on getting a clam, unsure of what type, but i wanted crocea, maxima, or a derasa. I currently have a 20L with 96w of t5 lighting over it. It has 2 10000k bulbs and 2 420nm actinic bulbs. I dont currently dose anything however I am planning on purchasing a calcium reactor soon, as well as a chiller. My temp gets up to 84 degrees F sometimes. Under the current lighting conditions do you guys think I can keep the three clam species alive? Thanks!

clams need stability and it sounds like your tank still has fluctuations, i wouldn't recommend getting a clam yet.

is your tank a 20 long on 20 litres??

it is a 20 gallon long with a 10 gallon sump. there is a few fluctuations in temp... lately about 80-83 F. I am working on a chiller, and will have a calcium reactor soon. Water quality is good although i dont have any numbers for you. water changes 10% a week. I am using ro/di water and also have an in sump skimmer CSS to be exact (not the greatest but it does its job decently). tank is lightly stocked, 1 small pterois sphex, 1 small snowflake eel, some xenia, palys, 1 feather duster, and some random small frags. The tank is established for over a year, but has only had the sump for a few months.

Btw thank you so much for responding to my thread, i get frustrated sometimes when i post on here, it seems like no one wants to help the noobies. I mean i have read the stickies and done research on the side but would still like another's opinion, so thank you very much!

yes, that is true. ive read that a crocea will max out at about 9". so this was the clam i really wanted to try out. and thank you for your response also :). long shot but do you guys think i can get away without a chiller? they arent exactly the cheapest piece of equipment lol
