Clam trouble....

Good morning all. Last night I was doing some re-aquascaping on the tank. I have a 4" Tridacna Clam that was on the top of a rock. Well, I inadvertently "spun" him around a little bit while moving liverock.

When I woke up this morning, he had let go and was on the sandbed at the bottom of the tank. On the rock where he was, was his byssal threads and a chunk of "meat". I can look in his "mouth" and see all the way through him out the bottom. Was the piece of meat his foot? Is he pretty much a gonner?

I have him on the bottom of the tank on a piece of egg crate and he's open, but is his fate sealed at this point?

Thanks all,
Woody

he just released his byssal gland, they do that sometimes. he should be fine though. Pic's would be helpful
