clam vs anemone

Two nights ago my 12" anemone decided to pick up and move after three weeks of happy living about two feet away from my clam. It moved up on an adjacent rock and a few tenticals were brushing up against one end of the clam. When I got home and noticed what happened. I immediately moved the clam out of harms way but it's not looking so good on half of it. It has turned a little brown and I need any suggestions on how to proceed. Medication etc...

anemones usually move when they are unhappy with their current position.

what type of anemone is it?
are you feeding the anemone?


one of my GBTA's grew large enough to sting my crocea. i was all worried that he wouldn't recover and some permanent damage had been done. by the time i went to get my camera to take a few pics, the clams mantle had returned to normal. IME the anemone sting is annoying to the clam but doesn't do much real damage. of course this may vary from species to species.

could you post a picture of the clam?

I have a 5"corcea that lives very happily next to a 8" BTA, they touch in fact. They both seem happy and are growing, so I've left them. Type of anemone could be an issue, more harmful nemocyscts.

My purple LTA has jumped my little maxima a few times. On one occasion the clams mantle looked burned and took a few days to heal. The other times, the clam just seemed annoyed and came back out as soon as I got the anemone to move. So far the clam seems very resilient. It's even had a chunk of salt creep fall into it, burning a nice little hole in the mantle, but came back strong!

Thank you all for your help. I am working on photos but I'm having some trouble. The clam is still brown on one end but he is out and the other end looks good. Any advice on posting a photo?

Was this anemone living in the rocks or sand?

We need to see pics for this. There aren't any medications that I know of I think the best thing you can do is make sure it doesn't happen again and watch the progress.

Some pics. The anemone is fed well and has good flow.

The clam is doing much better now but you can still see the brown and white spots on the far end of the clam that I was refering to.
